  • How you can start a blog and make money

What is a blog?

A blog is a simple website usually created as a means of making money or as a source of traffic to a business. They are primarily used for publishing web posts mainly known as blog posts.

People can search for information within or related to a post and find them listed on Google search results. The traffic within these posts can then be monetized or get a product recommendation from a brand as a means of marketing the brand or its product.

For Example:

Pinch of Yum is a blog site that is based on foods and recipes. They publish useful topics with a decent search volume under anything related to food and recipes. They then monetize their site visitors with ad displays and affiliate products to make money.

This is the primary reason why most people start a blog either to monetize their traffic directly or to use it to grow traffic to their business by recommending their brand products to those audiences.

To start a blog you have to choose your blogging niche and be willing to create posts for audiences within that niche.

Uses & Benefits of Starting A Blog

Here are the primary reasons why most blogs are created;

  1. To make money
  2. To drive traffic to a brand’s product
  3. As a means of educating a specific community or group of people

[1]. To Make Money: They Can Be Monetized To Bring In Money

Most people start a blog to get it monetized and make money from it.

This is very lucrative as many average blogs are making more than $5,000 per month with as little as less than $4 investment.

Though this is a common range, some other top bloggers are making more than $100k every month, due to their huge number of posts and monetization strategies.

If anyone is serious about starting a profitable blog they can go from $0 to consistently making above $5,000 after 6 months to one year. This is worthwhile since it has a very low startup cost and has the potential to make you more than 15k per month.

[2]. Blogs are used in marketing a business product or services

Businesses, brands, and individuals use blogs to market their products and services, by creating content [blog post] related to their offering and strategically introducing them to potential customers coming to read the posts.

This is simply a means of marketing a brand product or service by becoming an option in Google search results for people to find you.

This is very interesting to brands because the traffic potential here is huge and doesn’t cost much money rather than producing brand product-related content.

[3]. As a means of educating a specific community or group of people

Blog sites are sometimes used to educate or update a group of people just like a school blog, a blog that educates a particular community or a group of people since they are constantly visited by those groups or community members.

This type of blog is created in order to reach members across the globe without a distance barrier just like a bible community blog, a school blog, a particular community or group blog, etc.

Blogs are created for many different reasons but according to my research and what I strongly think, these three reasons are the greatest scenarios that cause people to start a blog.
